The life of the animals at Salzburg Zoo
We are doing our best to offer our animals a happy life at the zoo and try to enrich their life by enriching their environment and changing the settings they have inside their enclosures. We demand activeness from our animals and promote this through a variety of tasks. Activeness can be easily tackled by trifles. Hiding delicacies is a good example for this.
The husbandry of the different animal species in one enclosure is enrichment too, since the contact of different species enhances the life quality of the individual animal.
The slogan “Demanding and promoting self-initiative” means that we offer variety and changes to our animals as often as possible and continuously work on improvements. Our aim is hence to provide an interesting and varied home to the inhabitants of our zoo.
